🌤️ Best time to visit Bangkok

Bangkok is a year-round destination, but the cooler, drier months between November and February are generally the best time to visit. Temperatures are more comfortable (by Thai standards!), humidity is lower, and it’s a great season for sightseeing, walking around markets, and hopping between temples without melting in the heat.

☀️ March to May is the hottest time of year, and Bangkok really turns up the heat. If you don’t mind sweating a little (or a lot), this can still be a fun time to visit, especially during Songkran (Thai New Year in mid-April), when the whole city turns into one giant, joyful water fight.

🌧️ June to October is the rainy season. Showers usually come in short, dramatic bursts rather than all-day downpours, so you can still enjoy your trip, just pack a light rain jacket and be flexible with your plans. On the plus side, the city is lush and less crowded during this time. Read more…

🚊 How to get around in Bangkok?

Getting around Bangkok might seem a little chaotic at first, but once you get the hang of it, it’s actually part of the adventure. The city offers a mix of modern and traditional transport options, and choosing the right one can save you time, and even turn your commute into a sightseeing experience. Read more…

The BTS Skytrain and MRT subway are the fastest and most efficient ways to get around the city, especially during rush hour. They’re clean, air-conditioned, and easy to navigate, with signs in English. Great for hopping between major areas like Sukhumvit, Siam, Silom, and Chatuchak.

💡 Tip: Get a Rabbit Card (for BTS) or a stored-value MRT card to skip the ticket lines.

Taking a boat along the Chao Phraya River is both scenic and practical: perfect for reaching attractions like Wat Arun, the Grand Palace, and Chinatown. Public ferries are cheap, fun, and avoid Bangkok’s legendary traffic.

💡 Tip: Look for the orange flag boats, they’re local and budget-friendly.

Taxis are everywhere and relatively affordable, but traffic can be intense. Always ask the driver to use the meter, if they refuse, it’s best to move on to the next one.

💡 Tip: Avoid rush hour (7–9 AM and 4–7 PM) if you’re in a hurry.

The iconic tuk-tuk is more of an experience than a practical way to get around, fun for short rides and photo ops, but not the cheapest option. Be ready to negotiate the fare before you hop in.

💡 Tip: Use tuk-tuks for short distances, and expect to pay a little more than a taxi.

Walking can be enjoyable in local neighborhoods and markets, but sidewalks are often narrow or uneven. For quick trips, motorbike taxis (found near BTS/MRT stations) are a speedy, though thrilling, option.

💡 Tip: Only use motorbike taxis if you’re comfortable with a bit of adrenaline!
